Preparation Meditation

IMPORTANT
Here is your preparation information. Please read carefully.

Welcome to our upcoming meditation. The journey has begun.
There is some preparation required. Please review carefully.

Intention

These meditations offer a unique opportunity to receive healing, transformation, and insight.
So take the opportunity to consider: what’s your intention for coming?

Pharmaceutical and Recreational

Some prescription, over the counter, and recreational drugs are contra-indicated and may require a period of abstinence to participate safely (up to 6 weeks with some medications and up to 3 weeks with most recreational drugs).

Please advise us immediately if you are on any prescription medication such as blood pressure medication, heart medication, asthma medications, anti-depressants or sleeping pills; as well as any over-the-counter medications such as cold, flu or sinus medications (as some of them are also contraindicated with our practices). Note: Paracetamol, Ibuprofen, antibiotics, and contraceptive pills are not contraindicated.

Special note to diabetics:  This practice may be contraindicated with your diabetes as it may change the amount of insulin or oral anti-diabetic medication that you need.   Be in touch before booking.

If you ingest MDMA or other recreational drugs close to our meditation, please let us know immediately.  As most recreational drugs have a 3-week standdown period we will need to assess if you can safely participate or not.

Mental and Physical conditions

There are some instances where it is not wise for people to participate.
Each case needs to be assessed on an individual basis, however, people with heart conditions and cardiovascular problems, chronic high blood pressure, asthma, and certain types of mental conditions involving psychosis or bi-polar disorder need to be considered carefully.  If this is you, contact us now.

Dietary considerations

These meditations are both sacred and rare.  To sit with them requires a particular alchemy within the body.  When the body is not prepared in this way, results may vary.

For the optimum experience, we recommend cleansing the body for about 10 days prior to a meditation.

We trust that you know what’s best for your body.  A diet based on fresh, whole and organic food and pure water is advised.  Love your body temple.  Enjoy daily healthy exercise.  Refrain from alcohol and mind-altering substances, caffeine, and sugar, to retain your vital force energy in the days before your meditation.

At least 5 days before a meditation, you are advised to:

  1. Avoid alcohol (give your liver some love!)
  2. Avoid micro-dosing practices.

At least 3 days before a meditation please:

  1. Eat a mostly vegetarian diet. Avoid red meat, pork, and dairy products.  Eggs are ok and so is a little bit of fish and chicken.
  2. Avoid highly processed foods with additives and preservatives.
  3. Avoid sugar, strong spices (garlic and chilli for example) and go very lightly on salt and oily foods.
  4. Avoid caffeine.
  5. Avoid alcohol.
  6. Avoid marijuana for at least 2 days before the meditation.

CONTRAINDICATED SUBSTANCES AND FOODS

  1. Alcohol: Alcohol is dangerous when combined with our practices on the day of and during a meditation.
  2. Recreational drugs: Most recreational drugs and stimulants are contraindicated 3 weeks prior to a meditation. Contact us if you have ingested recreational drugs or stimulants within this time so we can assess whether you can participate or not.
  3. Pharmaceutical medications: Some prescription and over the counter medications contraindicate with our practices. Contact us if you use prescription or over the counter medications.
  4. Fermented foods: Fermented foods should not be consumed 24 hours before or after a meditation.  Fermented foods include soy sauce/tamari/miso, sauerkraut, mouldy cheeses, yoghurt (including coconut and other non-dairy yoghurts), kombucha/kefir/fermented drinks, sourdough breads, etc.
  5. Some herbs including St. John’s Wort, Kava, Ephedra, Ginseng, Yohimbe, Sinicuichi are contraindicated for up to 14 days before a meditation. Contact us if you use these herbs.

On the day of the meditation please:

  • Do not consume caffeine.
  • Enjoy breakfast before you come (be sure to follow the dietary guidelines).
  • No solids after 11 am.
  • Drink plenty of water/ herbal teas during the day.

The aim is to have no undigested matter in the gut and intestines, and enough liquid to assist with the cleanse.

Fasting

The work that we will do can take energy and stamina. Extended fasting prior to a meditation is not advised.

What to Bring

  • A Torch (head torch lamp size – Note: you won’t be permitted to use your mobile phone)
  • A mat that is no wider than a yoga mat! (60 cm wide). If you bring a wider mat than this, you won’t be able to use it. A self- inflatable camp mat works well and it’s comfortable (make sure it’s not a rustley one… – for example, something like this: https://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/sleeping/hiking-mats/mountain-designs-pro-38-sleeping-mat/90139843). Another suggestion can be: a yoga mat and doona, (fold into 3 and put on top of your mat to sit on, to make it more comfortable.)
  • Cushions to make yourself comfortable
  • Warm blanket/single doona –  please no rustle-ey items as they are too noisy in a quiet temple!
  • A Torch (head torch lamp size – Note: you won’t be permitted to use your mobile phone)
  • Notepad and pen for your integration in the morning
  • Yummy “brunch” foods to share for both mornings… (if we are doing another meditation the following night, please be sure that the food offerings you bring are still within the diet guidelines (not too oily, spicy etc) and do not bring fermented foods (see the contraindicated foods listed above).  Fresh fruits, stewed fruits, homemade cereals, eggs, avocados, chia pudding, porridge, roasted veggies, raw veggies, quinoa, rice salads…all these things are great to bring and share.  Please bring unprocessed natural foods and let’s get co-creative together!
  • Yummy snacks that are easily digestible.  This is especially for those people who have a quick metabolism or who like to have early breakfasts.  Fruit that can be cut up to share and veggies that could be steamed or served fresh in a salad dressed in lemon juice are a couple of ideas.
  • Some people with a fast metabolism like to bring coconut water for before and after the meditation (not during) as it makes the light fasting experience easier.
  • Further bedding, if required, for sleeping in the temple after ceremony
  • Fresh clothes for the next day if desired, plus toothbrush etc.
  • If you are coming to the Bryon Meditation, make sure you bring linen including a doona cover and pillowcase if you have booked a bed. Please note that if you are planning on using your bed’s doona during meditation, you won’t be able to use it unless it has a cover on it.
  • If you are coming to the Sydney Meditation, bring swimmers and a sarong/towel as sometimes we share a sweatlodge sauna on Sunday morning
  • Personal accountability and a loving heart
  • Did I mention to bring a Torch? ☺

What to Wear

During the meditations please wear comfortable clothes in white or light colours.

If you need to wear other colours, it’s OK – but please no slogans or strong branding.  (Please choose meditation clothing that does not overly sexualise the body).  Thank you!

Bring some warm clothes as it may get cold during the night.

PLEASE NOTE:

We encourage clothing and bedding derived from natural fabrics. Please be aware of harm caused by synthetic microfibers (such as fleece) to our bodies, precious waterways, soil and food chain. Whilst it seems ‘easier’ to pack a synthetic microfiber blanket, socks or jumper, these items are causing grave harm. Please be mindful.

Very important:

Please refrain from wearing any artificial chemicals of any kind, including non-plant based deodorants, personal care products and clothes washed in perfumed laundry detergent. Our sense of smell can become very attuned and these fragrances may really disturb you or your neighbours!

Minimum waste practice:

As a part of our relationship with our beautiful Earth, we would like to strive towards minimum waste events. Please buy the food that you bring with you without one-time-use plastic packaging and without plastic wraps. Health food shops and markets often sell their products without hard/soft plastic packaging.  Good luck!

Arrival Time

The address of our temple will be sent to you via email 5 days before our meditation together.

NEW ARRIVAL TIME

Arrive on Friday at 1 pm.  If you need to arrive after 1pm contact us first to ensure a later arrival can be accommodated.

It’s optimum to arrive early on the day of the ceremony and allow yourself time to orientate yourself, meet new friends, set yourself up in the temple, go for a walk and let go of any tension from your travels and become settled before our meditation begins.

Our meditation will usually last for 5 -7 hours, followed by soupy nourishment and then there will be rest time till breakfast.
After breakfast we will have an integration session and some rest.
Later on in the day, we will start our next ceremony.

Please note that your decision to participate is a decision to join in both meditations and both integration sessions.

We close our circle by approx 4 pm on Sunday.

A Word about Integration

These meditations are very potent. It can be useful to avoid being really busy in the first few days after our meditation, to allow integration to unfurl gently. It is highly recommended that you do not make any plans or engagements for the day after our last ceremony.
Attending these meditations comes with a commitment of staying until the end of our last integration session (on the last day of our time together).  Loving recommendations and practices to support your optimal integration will be given to you at the end of our gathering.
Your integration after the end of our time together will include 1 hour every day for the first 4 days for Soulful Self Time – time just for you – to allow your deep healing process to continue into your daily life.

Womens Business

Please note that it is a strong possibility that your moontime/menstruation may unexpectedly come during these meditations. Please come prepared and bring your own sanitary items!
If you are on your moontime on the day of our meditation, please let us know, as it is important to offer you extra care at this time.
If you are pregnant you must let us know immediately, as certain trimesters are contra-indicated.
